Flowering Beauties Along the Carlito Springs Trail

It’s springtime in the mountains, and that means flowering beauties!  I did manage to capture a few images of them and converted them to a sketching or paintings.  It gives a different impression of nature in one of its prettiest forms.
Floating Beauty
This image is somewhat surreal.  I was looking down into a pool created by the springs and saw this lovely purple bloom just floating there, a bit like a water lily.  There was a very small waterfall that poured water into the pool just behind the flower, and the moss was a vibrant green along the sides of the pool.  In the image, tho, the flower seems to just be floating and the waterfall seems to be reaching down to touch the bloom.
Daffodil in the Mountains
I always think of daffodils blooming in the lush meadows of The Morton Arboretum, in Lisle, Illinois.  Well, this little beauty didn’t get that memo!  And, here it is, happily blooming away in the mountains in New Mexico, in what is best termed the high desert.  We were lucky to catch it blooming now.  Its season is relatively short.
Touch of Spring
A bit further down the trail, I was lucky enough to notice this burst of spring blooming on the trail ledge somewhat above me.  I had the opportunity to capture this image/sketch at what is basically from a bug’s perspective!
Enjoy!
