Florida
Greens
We spend a few days at a state park just outside of Orlando, FL,
and have some great images and memories to share….
Campground Welcome
As a photographer, I know I’m in for a great time when this is
the welcome we get as we drive into the campground! I love the way the boughs of the live oak
trees seem to want to shelter us and offer a break from the sun.
Campground Road
And, the further we have to drive to get to our campsite, the
quieter it often tends to be. I just
love when we get to camp in such wonderful natural surroundings. It’s one of the reasons that we tend to
prefer both state and national parks over the commercial ones.
Resurrection Fern
This fern is what’s called a resurrection fern. It’s the most abundant epiphytic fern growing
in Florida. An epiphytic plant is one
that grows on another plant, but is not parasitic. It can often be found growing on branches of
live oak trees, and can be found throughout Florida. During periods of draught, it shrivels up to
form a sort of brown lump, but when the rains come, it resurrects into this
lovely green fern again!
Tree Base Remainder
These two images (above and below) are flip sides of a coin, so
to speak. As I was photographing the top
image of what appears to be the remains of the root system of a tree, Jeff was
calling me over to look at it from the other side (below). I thought both were equally striking – which
do you prefer?
Natural Abstract Art
Fern Floor
I always like when a forest floor is covered in growth, and this
was no exception. The ferns add such an
element of lushness to the overall scene – I thought for this image, they
needed to be the stars!
Nature’s Accent
These small sort of ivy type vines were found throughout the
browns of the tree barks and fallen leaves.
Nature contributed her own pop of color!
Picnic Setting
This scene just made me want to pack up a picnic lunch and sit
under this great tree! Of course, when
one is camping, almost any meal can be a picnic!
Enjoy!
