Digital Art from Vacation

While on vacation, I played with some photos and created some digital art.  I thought I'd share them! ( You will probably need to click on the images to read the quotes.)

I loved this little bee, hanging onto the flower bloom for all he's worth!  I created a watercolor background and framed the photo with some computer graphics.  Then, I added an appropriate quote.

For the above piece, I applied a creative filter to this photo of a butterfly.  His pose was so perfect, I knew I had to do something special with this image.  And, of course, the quote just seemed to speak to this image.

I loved this image of these flowers.  I processed it through my HDR software to improve it, and then added this appropriate quote.  It truly speaks to life in general.

I just loved this image and placed in on top of some background paper that I made using Citrasolv.  The actual paper was scanned so that I could use it for digital art.  I just loved this quote and how it also applies to every aspect of life.

Enjoy!

Playing with Digital Watercolor Painting

I've been playing with some new watercolor brushes in Photoshop Elements over the past couple of days & thought I'd share ~

This first image is just a background that I created using several different brushes.  I especially like the one that looks like paint that has started running down the paper.  I had the opacity set fairly low so the colors look very soft and almost translucent.

For the above image, I used one of my favorite vintage images.  Can you see the faint image of a vintage postcard in the upper right area of the piece?

For this last piece, I used layers quite a bit - a watercolor layer, grungy background paper & a music sheet.  I then started playing with the blending modes in Photoshop (something new for me) until I found something I liked!  I added a flower image from a botanical print and a quote I remember seeing a while ago.

Enjoy!

Artful Images

Here are some images from this weekend that I’ve made over into more art-like images.  Take a look -

This first image was taken during a hazy sunset.  Who would have thought a dried bloom could look so artistic?  The quote by Leonardo da Vinci is perfect for this image…….

This was taken as we hiked along trails at Rockhound State Park (and off trails, too) looking for interesting rocks.  As I took my eyes off the ground, I saw a beautiful landscape.  The quote about inner guidance just seemed to speak about this image, once I created a more painterly effect.  It seems to be more and more like what I’m doing…..

This image of a flowering branch was made softer by adding what I call a tissue effect.  I used a brush tool in PhotoShop Elements with a very, very pastel color and used a very low  opacity.  I used a large brush size and gently dabbled it all over the image.  I then added the quote about happiness, and love the overall impression……

I used a colored pencil effect for this image.  The bold  graphic of the original image just lent itself well to the colored pencil effect.  The quote about the past is also appropriate for this image…….

Enjoy!
