Early Autumn Along
the Rivers
Altho it was only
mid-September, up in northern New Mexico, the colors of autumn were beginning
to put in an appearance. Autumn colors
along a rushing river or creek is one of my favorite things. These 2 rivers, the Rio Chama and Rio Brazos,
didn’t disappoint!
Rio Chama
I was standing on
the bridge over the Rio Chama River when I shot this image. I liked the way the river was flowing – so
fast, the water looks like it was forming white caps! In this image, the colors are just starting
to change.
Rio Chama
I then crossed the
road and shot this image – a different perspective and a totally different
feel. I think the river looks calmer,
quieter. The river is still flowing just
as fast, but since we don’t see the white caps, it doesn’t seem to be moving as
fast. The colors are a bit more
pronounced from this perspective.
Rio Brazos
We moved on to Rio
Brazos. The river is smaller, more like
a creek in a way, and not flowing nearly as quickly as Rio Chama. Altho the trees here don’t look quite like
the color has started, the sky certainly looks like a fall day.
Rio Brazos
This view is taken
from the opposite side of the road, and again offers a slightly different
vantage point. The result is an image
that feels a bit more intimate, yet with a longer type view. There are a couple of high bluffs in the
distance. It adds more depth to the
image.
Enjoy!
