Exploring the area around Cle Elum, WA

This past weekend, we spent time near Cle Elum, Washington.  Jeff's siblings and their spouses and a good friend were at a motorcycle group's spring gathering in a nearby town, and we spent quite a bit of time visiting with them.  However, I was able to capture some cool shots around the area......

One morning, we walked around the campground and found that we weren't far from the Yakima River.  The above image was of a baby pine cone that was just starting to develop.  The actual photo was ok, but I felt like it could be better, and this effect creates a sort of painting effect.  I think it adds to the image and really like the result.  This image also reflects some sunshine - the first we had in a couple of days that Washingtonians describe as "soft" (cloudy, overcast, and wet without it necessarily raining!).  The green is thanks to the "softness", but the lovely lighter green color is thanks to the sun!

As we explored, we came across railroad tracks and a trestle that bridges the Yakima River.  Again, the photo image looked good, but this time, I thought the crayon effect just added a bit of casual fun to the image, which was what we were experiencing when we came across it!

The images above and below are the actual photo images.  I named each "Thru the Fence" as they area both looking at something thru different fences.  The above image is one I took on a pedestrian walkway bridge that used to be a railroad trestle and is next to the trestle still in use.  I purposefully captured  the image with the fence in it because that's really how you viewed the river!  The image below was one I captured while walking back from a motorcycle gathering that Jeff's siblings were at.  I was walking to their campsite and saw this beautiful horse that you can see by peeking thru the fence and tree between you and the horse.

Here's another image of the horses in the pasture grazing.  This one is not a straight photo, tho.  It's also finished as a crayon drawing.  This image really seems peaceful to me, and that was really what a large part of the weekend was for me.

Enjoy!
